Does the harvest happen if I cannot visit during January-February?

The harvest is initiated and managed entirely by Nature N Me‘s agricultural team: the farm manager schedules picking crews, supervises the harvest, manages wet mill processing, coordinates drying and bagging, and arranges sale of the processed coffee. Your involvement is not required at any stage of this process.
The harvest has proceeded for investors who are in Bangalore, Mumbai, Singapore, London, and New York without any disruption. The farm team’s job is specifically to make the harvest happen without requiring the investor to be there.
Who decides when to start picking on my plot?
The farm manager makes this decision based on cherry ripeness — assessed by visual inspection of the developing cherries across the estate. The manager monitors colour transition from green to yellow to red, checks cherry firmness, and determines the optimal picking start date for each section of the plot. This judgment call is made by the agricultural professional on the ground, not by the investor.
Starting picking at the right time is one of the most critical agricultural decisions of the harvest season — too early reduces coffee quality, too late increases cherry drop and borer damage. What decisions during harvest require investor input?
In a standard harvest season with no unusual circumstances, no decisions require investor input or approval. The harvest proceeds, the coffee is processed, and the produce is sold through established channels based on the management agreement.
In unusual circumstances — an unexpected disease outbreak affecting the harvested coffee quality, a market pricing situation where the manager wants to hold produce for a better price rather than selling immediately, or a significant decision about harvest equipment — the farm manager would communicate with the investor and seek input. But these situations are exceptions rather than the rule.
What do I receive during and after the harvest?
During the harvest, you receive daily or every-other-day WhatsApp updates from the farm manager with the day’s picking weight, photographs of the harvest activity, and short videos of the wet mill processing. These updates give you a real-time picture of what your estate is producing without requiring your physical presence.
After the harvest and sale are complete, you receive a comprehensive harvest income statement: total cherry weight picked per picking day, total dried parchment coffee weight after processing, sale price achieved through auction or direct sale, gross income, management fee deducted, and net income payable to you. This statement is typically accompanied by the sale documentation showing the actual transaction.
Is there any advantage to visiting during harvest?
Yes — visiting during the harvest is genuinely worthwhile if you can arrange it. Seeing your own coffee cherries being picked, the wet mill running, and the drying beds filled with fresh-processed coffee is an experience that gives the investment a physical reality that monthly photographs do not quite replicate. Most investors who visit during January describe it as one of their most memorable farm visits.
